Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Chemical-Resistant Gloves

Chemical-resistant gloves help protect workers handling cleaning agents, industrial liquids, spill-response materials and other workplace chemicals. Insinc’s range includes lightweight Chloronite gloves, nitrile and neoprene gloves, PVC gauntlets, Heveaprene gloves and specialist Ansell AlphaTec options.

Available sizes range from Small to 3XL, depending on the product. Options include ambidextrous gloves, matched pairs, unlined gloves and longer gauntlet styles for additional wrist and forearm coverage.

Which Glove Material Should You Choose?

Nitrile options include standard green gloves, unlined chemical gloves and 45cm gauntlets. Neoprene gloves are available in standard and heavy-duty formats, while PVC gauntlets include single-dipped 27cm and 45cm styles and a double-dipped 45cm option.

The Ansell AlphaTec range also includes LLDPE, PVA, neoprene and nitrile-coated gloves for applications such as spill response, wet handling, heavy-duty work and tasks requiring grip or dexterity.

Match the Glove to the Chemical

Glove materials are not interchangeable. A glove that performs well with one chemical may be unsuitable for another, even when both products are described as chemical-resistant.

Before ordering, identify the substance being handled and check its safety data sheet, the glove manufacturer’s chemical-resistance chart, required exposure time and workplace risk assessment. Also consider cuff length, grip, dexterity, lining and whether protection against heat, cold or mechanical hazards is required.

Choose the correct size to support comfort and control, and replace gloves that become punctured, swollen, cracked, contaminated or otherwise damaged. One listed neoprene glove is obsolete, so contact Insinc for a suitable alternative.
